Coldplay- Swallowed in the Sea 4/5/2012
Have you ever heard that saying, “There’s plenty of fish in the sea?” I am totally going off what I think, but i think the name of the song relates to that saying. I think this song is talking about soul mates. Through out the whole song the lyrics say-
“you belong with me” or “you belong with me not swallowed in the sea”
I think he is signing that person “A” belongs with person “B” and not swallowed in the sea(the sea of people out in the world looking for their soul mate). Although this song is about soul mates(I think), I think this song may also be about something that is keeping them apart. The beginning of the song says-
“You cut me down a tree, And brought it back to me, And that’s what made me see
Where I was going wrong. You put me on a shelf, And kept me for yourself I can only blame myself, You can only blame me.”
Somewhere something went wrong and person “A” is blaming their self. Either about the tree reference meaing person “B” always did all the work in the relationship. Or the shelf reference meaing person “B” never let person “A” be with other people other than person “B.” No matter what the circumstance was person “A” is blaming their self for letting all of this happen and letting the relationship continue on. Again this is only what I think the song is about. Some how they both got lost in the sea and went off and did their own things and person “A” decided to go see person “B.”-
“You put me on a line, And hung me out to dry. And darling that’s when I Decided to go to see you.”
Once they saw each other again, I think that’s when person “A” really discovered that person “B” is person “A’s” soul mate.-
“You cut me down to size, And opened up my eyes. Made me realize, What I could not see.”
So basically this song is about to people being soul mates. Even when they were apart one still knew that the other person needed to be with them. There is so much more in this song that makes me believe this, that I could write forever. I love this song becasue I personally believe that God does have a special person picked out for each and everyone of us.

Cosmic Love- FLorance+ The Machine 4/4/2012
Now I feel like there can be so many different interpratations to this song, that it doesn’t matter which one is right as long as it means something to you. I think this song is obviously about love. The begining of the song says
“A falling star fell from your heart and landed in my eyes I screamed alound as it tore through them, and now it’s left me blind,”
meaing she has been blinded by the love that fell from this guys heart. She falls in, apparently, unrequited love with a man. She feels so consumed and overwhelmed by this emotion - blinded by the intensity of it - that she is literally in the dark; totally lost, confused, scared, cannot see the wood for the trees-
“The stars, the moon, they have all been blown out, you left me in the dark, No dawn, no day Im always in this twlight, in the shadow of your heart.”
She feels as if she has been left in the dark alone. She knows she fell in love with another person because the heartbeat that she hears has to be there, but when she goes to find where the sound is coming from she realizes she is in complete darkness alone, so she becomes darkness-
“And in the dark, I can hear your heartbeat I tried to find the sound, But then I stopped, And i was in the darkness So darkness I became”
Once she knows she is in the darkness she tries to find her way out, but is then distracted by the sound of the heartbeat again. She realizes that he is now also in the darkness with her and so she stays with him.-
“I took the stars form our eyes, and then I made a map. And knew that somehow I could find my way back. Then I heard your heart beating, you were in the darkness too. So I stayed in the darkness with you.”
I think in the end the song is about when couples fall in love and one falls deeper than the other. When one realizes that and tries to find there way back or out of the relationship, the other realizes that they are in love and meets them there before the actually end the relationship and lets the other know that he/she is also in the darkness too. I feel that when this happens, it’s a growing and learning experience for their relationship and can ultimitely lead to cosmic(infinitely extended) love.
